March 2017

Jungle Roar

Welcome to March!  Many exciting events will begin to take place all around us. Karen does a remarkable job in keeping our calendar up to date and e-mails to remind us of what’s coming up.   Please participate and enjoy them when you can!

On March 4th,  Crescent City Corvette Club will host their annual Legends Car Show in Harvey at Boomtown Casino.  Please check the calendar for departure location and time.  I hope you can make this awesome show.

The Northshore Corvette Club is inviting all Confederation of Clubs (for new members this includes all of us) to join them on a Caribbean Cruise for five days beginning January 6, 2018.  I’m thinking this will be one heck of a fun filled five days!  And remember what happens on board – stays on board!  And hopefully not overboard!

With sadness in our hearts we express deepest sympathy to our former first lady, Mary Jurey and her family on the passing of her mother Rose Mary Babin.  We are so sorry for your loss Mary.

On a happier note Mark and Mary Jurey announced the pending arrival of their second granddaughter and Zoey’s new sister Kaylee Claire.  Kaylee will make her debut in just a few short weeks.  Congratulations to their son and daughter in law and the entire family.

Congratulations are also in order to Elaine Peck on the arrival of her “New Sterling Blue Metallic” “Bad Girl!”  She’s beautiful.  I’m sure she will have it at our next meeting for all to see!  She picked it up on Saturday 2/18 and drove it in the Addis Parade on Sunday 2/19, much to everyone’s surprise when they arrived at the meet point.

Barry Duplessis along with quite a few members has been doing an outstanding job with regard to St. Jude ticket sales.  Thank you all.  Unfortunately having contractors at our house practically 7 days a week Maria and I are sorry we have not been able to participate in events like we want to do.  Soon people – very soon we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mike Segura is running full steam ahead on preparations for this year’s April 29th Show.  Please contact him to volunteer to help out in any area you think you would like to be a part of.  We really need everyone’s assistance to make this a successful show.  Goody bag items, as well as live and silent auction items and general store merchandise is still needed.  Sponsorships are always appreciated and In Memory Plaques are a wonderful way to honor a beloved family or friend that has departed.

Maria asked that I give a special thanks to all of the members who drove during this Mardi Gras season.  With the rebuild in its final stages it has been a very trying time for her to keep it all together, but she never ceases to amaze me with her drive and determination to get things done.  A special thanks goes out to Steve Jones for arranging her police escorts to the downtown parades and heartfelt gratitude to Larry Barrios for taking our place in two parades recently.  We know Larry, we owe you “Big Time” for Sunday’s parade!

Finally, I ask that you stay safe while out driving in this great weather and don’t forget to “Save the Wave.”  It’s the proud thing to do!
