Welcome to Fall

Parades and homecomings are in full swing!  LSU’s Homecoming boasted almost 40 corvettes!  Way to go BRCC Members!  You all are the GREATEST!  I would also like to send special thanks to New Orleans folks and especially Felix Famularo for calling out 10 cars from the area.  One couple, Ken and Edna Centola along with their son brought three!!!  Steve Jones, we are always grateful to you for securing police escort service, and it goes without saying Maria works tirelessly on this one for weeks coordinating everything with LSU.  It has been said each year that our cars are the hi-light of the parade.  If you don’t understand why, just take a look at the pictures over the years.

We have quite a few events you may want to attend this month.  Karen does an excellent job keeping us up to date on them.  Please check your calendar on our website.

Next weekend is the Eureka Springs trip from October 5-9.  David, Karen and Larry will be attending.  If you have an opening in your schedule and would like to go, I’m sure they would be happy to have you along.  Maria and I went a few times years ago and I’m sure it only improved since then.

GNOCC’s Extravetteganza is Oct. 21st in Slidell with a kick-off party on the 20th.  I’d like to see as many members and possibly can come out and enjoy their show.  They are great supporters of ours.  I promise you will have a good time.  Ladies, there’s shopping – lots of shopping there and guys, the car display is unbelievable.

Also, on Oct. 27 & 28th quite a few of us will be attending Vettes by the Shore in Biloxi.  This, too, is a wonderful show.  They are proud supporters of our St. Jude Show and I’d love to see as many of our members attend as possible.  Maris s handling hotel reservations and it’s not too late to make them with her.  They have a fun filled kick off Halloween Party on the 27th.  Costumes optional – clothes a MUST!

The most important order of business is our upcoming election for the 2018/2019 term.  Officers are running unopposed, but we have 7 people wanting to run for the 6 member board.  Absentee voting will take place this Wednesday at our Oct. 4th Board Meeting be held at Hunan’s on Sherwood Forest.  General election will take place at our November 8th meeting.

Candidates running for the board are:

Larry Barrios; David Bedell; Karen Bedell; Nathan Hatheway; Bob Huffman; Steve Jones and Leon Winstead.

Exiting the board, but not abandoning the club are Barry Duplessis and Mike Segura.  I would like to take this time to personally thank them for their dedication to our club.  Mike and Barry will be fully active in their duties with our St. Jude Car Show as Show Chairman and Ticket Sales Chairman.

With autumn slowly coming into view, the weather may give us a break from time to time to put together some last minutes cruises.  Don’t hesitate!  Any member can organize one.  We just ask you to check with our Vice President Daryle Gauthier to see that there are no scheduling conflicts.

Finally, don’t forget to Save the Wave!  It’s the proud thing to do!
