February Jungle Roar
Happy Valentine
Again with sadness we send sympathy to several of our members on the passing of their loved ones: Scott and Steve Jones & family on the passing of their mother and David and Karen Bedell say goodbye to their sister-in-law, Valerie Borne’s aunt, who recently lost her battle to cancer. Mark Bensen doing well after surgery on his hand. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you as well as the members who are going through personal issues, conflicts or health problems.
On a brighter note, our NCM Ambassador Clay Lewis has graciously gifted the club with the cost of flying our BRCC banner over the National Corvette Museum parking lot for one year. Karen Bedell has designed a completely new flag, thanks Karen.
Our St. Jude Car Show is April 13th, less than 3 months away. We will be passing around a sign-up sheet for workers. Please be ready to volunteer. It takes everyone’s help and cooperation to make this show a success. Goody bag items and silent/live auction items are always needed, as well as sponsors.
Barry has raffle ticket sales each Saturday with locations and times posted. If you can come out to help sell and show your car, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, tickets are available to members at each meeting. Remember our club donates 100% of the proceeds from our show to St. Jude.
Fun times ahead! Several trips are on the horizon. In April (just after our show) a group of us will be headed to Hot Springs. There’s still time to make your reservation if you would like to join us. After their show we will take a couple of days down to Paris, AR, Lodge at Mount Magazine, where Karen will lead us as we run the “Pig Trail.” This promises to be exciting!
We will be supporting many other shows. Maria has a list of out of town shows where you may need to reserve rooms. Please see her if interested so that dates, times, and reservations can be discussed, she has a sign-up sheet at each of our general meetings or you can simply call or text/e-mail her.
Members, we would like to keep our club as active as you would hope it to be. The only way we can accomplish this is through YOU! Please come out and join us in as many events as you can. This is why you joined. We try to put on as many LMC’s (last minute cruises) as time permits, however, we are getting into our busy months & fellow corvette enthusiast club shows and events are also another way to get out and enjoy our beauties.
On Feb. 10th we will be joining the GNOCC on their Annual Valentines Cruise to Middendorf’s. I hope you will be among those of us attending. It’s a great way to share your love of corvettes and meet so many wonderful people. RSVP’s are already sent in, deadline done.
Maria has a few Mardi Gras Parades on tap. The entire club is invited to ride in the Krewe of Orion Parade in Baton Rouge, February 23rd. Parade begins at 6:30 P.M. We will meet at T.J. Ribs on Acadian for 5:00 P.M. to leave at 5:15 P.M. by police escort to staging area. You may bring throws and decorate your car if you wish.
Karen does a great job in keeping our website calendar up to date. Please take advantage of her efforts by checking it often. Also, she will help you on any questions you have in updating your member’s page.
Gentle Reminder: This is the last month to renew your membership dues before being automatically dropped from the roster. Please make every effort to send your payment in, pay at our meeting or on line.
Finally, don’t forget to Save the Wave! It’s the proud thing to do!
